This document constitutes a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "You") and GreenEars Audio LLC ("GreenEars", "we", "us", "our"), a Utah limited liability company. It explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on greenearsaudio.com.

1. WHAT ARE COOKIES

1.1 Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. "Local storage" and "session storage" are similar browser mechanisms that let a website store small amounts of data in your browser.

1.2 Cookies can be:

  • FIRST-PARTY (set by the site you are visiting) or THIRD-PARTY (set by another domain loaded by the site);
  • SESSION (deleted when you close the browser) or PERSISTENT (retained until expiration or deletion);
  • STRICTLY NECESSARY (required to deliver a service you requested), FUNCTIONAL (preferences), ANALYTICS (usage measurement), or MARKETING (advertising).

2. COOKIES AND BROWSER STORAGE WE USE

GreenEars currently uses a very small set of cookies and storage items. We do NOT load Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Fonts, Hotjar, Intercom, Facebook Pixel, reCAPTCHA, the PostHog browser SDK, browser-side Sentry, or Datadog on greenearsaudio.com.

2.1 STRICTLY NECESSARY (set by Moonbase, third-party):

  • moonbase_session Purpose: keeps you signed in to your Moonbase storefront account when you interact with the cart, checkout, or your Moonbase account through our site. Set by: Moonbase Technologies (third-party). Duration: session/persistent per Moonbase's configuration.
  • moonbase_storefront Purpose: holds storefront state including cart contents and UTM-attribution parameters for order tracking. Set by: Moonbase Technologies (third-party). Duration: persistent per Moonbase's configuration.

2.2 FUNCTIONAL / SECURITY (first-party):

  • greenears_error_session_id (stored in localStorage, not a cookie) Purpose: a randomly generated UUID used to correlate client-side error reports submitted from your browser to our /api/client-errors endpoint, so engineers can group related errors during debugging. Set by: GreenEars (first-party). Duration: persistent until you clear localStorage. Contains no personal data on its own.

2.3 PLATFORM (first-party, set by hosting provider):

  • __vdpl Purpose: this cookie may be set by Vercel, our hosting platform, for platform purposes (such as routing or A/B delivery). Set by: Vercel (first-party from your perspective because greenearsaudio.com is served via Vercel). Duration: per Vercel's configuration.

3. SERVER-SIDE ANALYTICS (NON-COOKIE TRACKING)

3.1 GreenEars uses PostHog for product analytics server-side. This means PostHog's browser SDK is NOT loaded on greenearsaudio.com. The PostHog project API key is held only on the server. Information about you collected by the website through server-side events is described in PRIVACY_POLICY.txt.

3.2 The plugin itself sends telemetry to PostHog over HTTPS from your computer (not through your browser); details are in the Privacy Policy.

4. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES

4.1 The only third-party cookies set on our site come from Moonbase. We do not set advertising cookies and do not participate in cross-site tracking for advertising.

5. HOW TO MANAGE COOKIES

5.1 You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent checkout or account login from working.

5.2 You can clear localStorage from the same browser settings, which will remove greenears_error_session_id.

6. DO NOT TRACK (DNT) AND GLOBAL PRIVACY CONTROL

6.1 We do not currently respond to DNT browser signals because there is no industry standard for them. We treat Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out of "sale" or "sharing" as required by applicable U.S. state law; given that we do not currently sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, GPC does not change our processing today.

8.1 We may update this Policy as our practices change. Material changes will be noted at the top with a new "Last Revised" date. Prior versions are archived in /archive in our Business_Docs repository.
